How To Guide - Harnessing your wellbeing in the Winter.

As I write this, it's the beginning of the year and the days are dark and short. Not bad news in itself, but perhaps a particularly challenging time to stay positive or an ideal time to implement some sustainable actions in your life and business that safeguards your mental health and wellbeing. Having said all that, this little exercise could be used at any time of the year.

Although there are millions of pieces of advice out there about how to improve wellbeing, I wanted (as always) to simplify a quick exercise to help you to create easy steps that you can incorporate into your business.

When we innovate in business or in life, it's often not reinventing the wheel but rather making small but consistent tweaks that make a meaningful difference.

Here are 3 simple steps to follow:

  1. Notice what you already do that you want to keep in your wellbeing routine. Perhaps you take a regular walk with the dog or you're good at having a brew with a friedn regularly. Maybe you journal regularly and you'd really miss it if you stopped. Note down these activities and commit to keep them in your routine.

  2. Conversely, now is the moment to reflect on what really drains your energy, leaves you feeling depleted or even stressed. These are things that you can note down and do less of, soften or even let go. If it's something you can't avoid all together, perhaps work out new ways to approach that activity or relationship that limits your exposure.

  3. Finally, is there room for you to add something realistic and simple that would really help your wellbeing. This might be building in clear non working time, starting a restful hobby or maybe you just want to connect in with your tribe or network for more support.

To support this process, and to help cement your thinking through the act of writing it down, here is a little downloadable to print off.
